Project Life

Another week and more progress. Not as much as I'd like, but some is better than none.

This project, while awesome in its own right, has had the added benefit of really making me think about and explore my creativity. It's forced me to ask myself why I'm taking it on, and why it's been hard for me at times. All good questions.

It's also reignited my passion for photography. And not just with my phone (although my iPhone 5 gets here Friday and I'm most excited about the camera on it, squee!). This past week saw me dusting off the old DSLR, and I have to say, I really enjoyed using it. I even took some "artsy fartsy" pics, which will hopefully make it into whatever PL spread I work on this week.

For now, let's get to the current spreads.

The first page I made this week was an insert using Design G (love the 10x12 size!):

I totally loved this spread. It reminds me of a fun time I had with my youngest, and the simple/graphic style puts the focus on the images/story. I felt awesome after I created this one. And it came together pretty quickly. Win, win.

I then went back and added to the page protector from earlier this month.

Here's the full page. I have to be honest, I don't love it. It just seems very all over the place, design-wise, and it kind of hurts my eyes. I like the pockets that are just a photo with text, but the square photos posed a problem for me. It took me forever to decide what paper to put them on, and then they looked boring, so I started embellishing them with stamps and die cuts. After all that, I wasn't happy with them. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm not feeling the "crafty" style right now. I absolutely love my paper goodies, but I'm just not drawn to them right now.  I was so tempted to redo those pockets, but I forced myself to move on.

A couple of close ups of the pockets:

Love that he totally lisps when he talks right now...

The things we do for our children...

"Love the mundane, the everyday..." That was my takeaway from this past week, really.  It reminds me of this post I wrote almost exactly a year ago over at one of my favorite sites. I'm still working on going with the flow and living in the moment. Some days I have to remind myself a lot.  And others, it just comes naturally. Ebb and flow...

  1. That insert is fabulous! Love the "hello fall" photo + text as well. And I hear you on not totally loving every week...I'm trying to focus on big picture though - just having the photos and words down. They can't all be perfect but I love what you're doing!

  2. That photo of fall is just gorgeous, as is your little one! How cute is he!?

  3. Your photos are beautiful! Those carmelitas look AMAZING. Can't wait till my kiddos are old enough to help me bake. Your kiddo looks delighted to be helping.

  4. Love the page about the lost Crocs :)

The beauty about this project is not necessarily each individual page but the album taken as a whole. years from now you will love that you documented all the little things and not worry so much about how each "page" looks!

  5. I love your pages! And I think the little pic of the iPhone 5 order/shipping confirmation with your comments over it is so clever!

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Share them below...
